forgot what I was going to call this blog post

Hiiiii

Another week, another blog!

As ya’ll know, I’m just starting to do weekly updates now with these and so this blog is just about how my week has been pretty much.

Monday, Luke got back from his girlfriend’s house where he’d been all weekend. He walked into my bedroom (I was still in bed) and told me that the defense had emailed him over the weekend to let him know he is only allowed to bring 4 guests to his enlistment this coming Monday. Now this wouldn’t be a problem except he told his girlfriend Jessie that she could come with us to Perth for it.

I told Luke I really really want to be there, but mum and dad will obviously be there and Connor probably needs to be there for closure after everything else this year. So I told him that if he would truly prefer Jessie to be at his enlistment, then I can just stay at the hotel that morning instead.

And this breaks my heart of course, I’m his older sister. I’ve watched his first steps, first soccer game, first day of school every year and it would be special to be there when he starts this new adventure in the navy. Also considering we might not see him again until Christmas, depending if he’s allowed home after his 10 weeks training. But I guess he would appreciate me more if I can sacrifice my spot for Jessie, because he does really love her and he’s hoping they’ll stay together through all this despite the distance and enforced lack of contact back home.

Anyway, I told him the choice is his but out of everyone else I’ll be willing to stay back if thats what he wants. Great way to start a Monday guys.

We were picking dad and Connor up from the bus station Monday night, as they’d caught the bus through from Geraldton where they’d been stuck all week, to Bunbury. Lowkey perfectly timed because I was working the three hours before the bus got in, so Luke picked me up from work and we went to collect the other gentlemen. I did not want to go to work but I wouldn’t be getting paid otherwise. It didn’t end up being bad, just a busy night and I didn’t have much energy honestly.

Even though we had been getting food boxes delivered while everyone else was away, there was no way anyone of us was making dinner that night so HJs it was.

Tuesday I was in bed pretty much all day. I put this down to all the fast food I’d been eating/the amount I hadn’t been eating lately. With 3 of the fam in gero and Luke at Jessie’s for two nights I was not going to be cooking a whole family meal just for me. And wasn’t eating bad, (shout out to Soul Origin lifesaver omg, and sushi) just not a home cooked meal you know? Plus my shifts at work mess around eating as well with the hours I’m rostered on. If I work 4 hours through the middle of the day, I don’t work long enough for a break, but breakfast at a normal time won’t fuel me long enough for the whole shift so there’s been many brunch meals and late lunch/early dinners.

Tuesday I was looking forward to having something good now that everyone was home. WRONG. My brothers went out for a night drive to catch up so it was just dad and I, so he ordered kfc. Ugh.

Look, I don’t eat the most healthy; I certainly lean into cravings more often than I should, but a girly with low iron and a need for protein (for the gym) needs a lot more food with actual nutritional value.

So I just went back to bed for dinner instead.

Wednesday mum was flying in to Perth from Gero, and dad was driving up to collect her from the airport that night, so it was my brothers and I at home for dinner. I was working all day, like 9-4, and then going to the gym afterwards so I’d asked my brothers to choose one of the seemingly endless meal-box meals we had stockpiled and cook us dinner. By the time I finally finished work and headed to the gym, I’d asked Luke what was for dinner in case I needed to grab anything from the shops on the way home. He said leftover kfc. 😒

I was gonna crash out man. I understand not wasting food, but I would rather throw away the refrigerated kfc than the multiple carrots, cabbages, soy sauces, cheeses that come with the meal boxes.

AND THEN, they didn’t even stay home for dinner. I was picked up from the gym by Luke and Connor, got home and told they were heading out again see you later.

Enraged.

So they went and bought what they wanted for dinner anyway and I had leftover kfc. By myself. With the dog. Again.

But mum was back by the time I woke up Thursday morning so it wasn’t all bad. We went shopping for some things Luke still needed for the navy, and I bought a pair of short shorts for pole dancing lol.

Yeah let’s just say, mum and I pretty much only disagree because we’re too similar, but really she keeps me the most sane.

Thursday night mum made two meals simultaneously for dinner, stew and tray bake and I was so so happy to have a nice warm homecooked dinner.

I was supposed to work Friday afternoon/evening but then we had water damage to one of our internal walls because of the dishwasher so the shop has had to shut until further notice. Great coincidence for me (even though I neeeed those dollars) because we were having a bit of a farewell dinner for Luke with our cousins in Bunbury. They’re all a fair bit younger than us but its nice to run around and play with them anyway.

I was up late last night starting and finishing a book I got from the library (Show Stopper by Hayley Barker for anyone wondering) which was much more of a political commentary than I thought it would be, and set in a near future dystopia of Great Britain which was interesting and refreshing, seeing as most dystopias are set in The Unites States.

Today is Saturday. I made pancakes for breakfast but they didn’t cook all the way through because I’m impatient af and ended up quite doughy. Jessie got here this morning and Luke finished packing. They’ve headed into Perth today to spend the night by themselves and the rest of us are going up tomorrow and meeting them at the hotel. Even if I don’t get to go to the enlistment ceremony, I’ll still be there to dress up nicely and take photos and have a last dinner with both my brothers for 10 weeks until Luke’s basic training graduation. That’s interstate so Jessie won’t go but at least I can be there for that one.

But yep thats been my week. I’m publishing this and then making dinner. Let everyone know how the enlistment goes in the next update, as well as my first pole dancing class!!

See you all then!
